Hollywood based 3 piece Ghost Town are set to release their new album Evolution through Fueled By Ramen/Atlantic records on November 6th. The album will be preceded by the single Spark on October 16th as well as a run of UK dates at the end of October. The video for Spark premieres on Friday September 11th at www.officialghosttown.com
Huge drums (MannYtheDrummeR), funky guitar riffs (Alix Koochaki), and unique vocals (Kevin Ghost) are the main elements that give Ghost Town their sound, along with the artwork of Alistar Dippner, aka imamachinst, who uses Ghost Town's drop dead sounds as inspiration to bring each song to life with his visuals.
The album is a dynamic call to arms, one with a message that is greater than its parts. Opening track Spark, the album’s flagship single, sets the tone, urging listeners to open their eyes to the world and take action in their lives. Kevin adds, ‘no one ever teaches you about anxiety and how difficult it is for almost everyone that I know to stand up and be themselves. It's probably a larger issue than drugs or ADHD. It takes effort and it takes courage to get out of bed in the morning, let alone be an individual. This record is a celebration of those people that have figured out a way to do it and it's some hope for those that are trying… because believe me we were just like you.’ The title track, Evolution, a surging number that matches its lyrical fervour with equally grandiose instrumentals, encourages you to find your voice. The line “Break out of your bedroom walls” is fiery command that it’s time to step out of your comfort zone.
Much has changed for Ghost Town since their inception in the autumn of 2012. Then, the band was broke, sleeping together in one room on broken futons, encouraged by their common idea that music could be a point of change. The musicians gave their songs away for free (and still do), one per week, month after month, building a buzz and drawing together a burgeoning community of fans online. By the time they put a track on iTunes, the momentum was there and they haven’t stopped since. Ghost Town’s first album, Party In the Graveyard, dropped in 2013, followed by their second, The After Party, last year. Both revealed an impassioned group of musicians with a lot to say and the talent with which to say it. Evolution is the chapter that follows.
‘In the past we’ve written a lot of songs about very specific relationships or very specific situations that people go through’, Kevin (lead vocals) says. ‘This is a broader spectrum. The message has to do with people opening their eyes and not being so tunnel-visioned. Don’t do the first thing someone tells you to do just because it seems like the easiest thing to do. It's not about what you wear, or how many people follow you, or how you look. It's about creating a community of like-minded people and accepting everyone’.
Ghost Town recorded the album over six weeks in the spring of 2015 at Pulse Studios, inspired by their endless touring with artists like Issues, Black Veil Brides, One OK Rock, Falling In Reverse and Breathe Carolina. The world felt wider, suddenly, and the musicians wanted to bring in the life perspectives of all the fans they’d met along the way. At the helm of the album was Josh Abraham (30 Seconds To Mars, Linkin Park, Weezer) with his colleagues Nico Stadi, Oligee and Ryan Williams.

Having previously performed in the UK at the 2013 Vans Warped shows and their own headline shows in 2014, Ghost Town are set to return to the UK in October for another appearance at Warped as well as a run of headline shows. These will be the first live shows the band will play as a three-piece: ‘The UK has always been amazing to us and gave us our first ever sold out shows so it feels right to give the Ghosts there the first chance to see how we have evolved.’ And, ‘We will still have a kick ass high energy show. Not a dull moment is allowed during a Ghost Town set. New songs, new vibes, new fresh energy that will be felt live. We can't wait to bring the Ghost universe to life!’
Tickets for the headline tour go on sale on Friday September 11th and support comes from Palisades.
